What the Butler Saw
Short film adapted and directed by Liseli Thiele
The story goes -- a wife comes home to find her husband, a psychiatrist with an office in the home, getting a little too intimate with his client. There's a bit of witty repartee between husband and wife and the marriage is over. I was the Wife, and Bruce Goodchild, my very close friend, played my Husband. Bruce experimented with a German accent, which was hysterical, and I played the sophisticated brunette in my new wig. I did Phyllis Kirk as directed by Noel Coward for all I was worth. The patient-other woman was played by Robin Rowan.

This was just a little student project for Liseli Thiele of the Academy Art College in San Francisco(picture right). Her husband was crew and her son was playing in the bedroom. The evening shoot took place in my apartment. We turned the living room into an office by shifting my desk around. Like the driftwood on the wall? My wall had been empty for about 10 years before I found the driftwood on the street right outside my apartment. It's been there ever since. But once I started reading about Fung Shui, I had to make changes. Seems dead wood, dried flowers, anything not alive is bad Fung Shui. So, I went South of Market to this incredible fake flower and plant store and got some Swedish Ivy which worked with the driftwood perfectly. It also makes the driftwood go much better with all the live plants in the apartment. My apartment has been used as movie sets at least 5 times already. I even use it as a selling point when I audition: "Take Me, Get My Apartment." Does that mean I supply the casting couch? Actually, no one's ever wanted it. I take that as a tribute to my fine acting. In any case, Liseli gets my award for fastest delivery of video copy of film. It took just a couple of days for her to get it to us. Thanks, Liseli. I wish you the best in your career.
